Social impact of The Joker

Topic: Societal impact of The Joker

Objectives:
Main Objective - to evaluate the impact on society that the movie has had in form of the protests happening within various countries. Chile and Lebanon are our main focus point. THe impact will be measured from the release of the movie until today november 6.

Secondary objectives -  evaluate The Joker as a social commentary.
                                    - the types of good and evil projected in society through superhero/supervillain
                                      movies.

  4. This objective is a very interesting one given how society has embraced the Joker (a villain) while demonstrating their disillusionment. Instead of focusing on the social commentary, try to analyze WHY a society would empathize with a stereotypical supervillain. These protests are occurring simultaneously in different cultural settings and they have different objectives. I believe it would be interesting to see how the Joker's objectives in the movie correspond with the objectives of the various protests occurring worldwide. What do both wish to achieve and are there similarities? If so, what does it say about a society that can identify itself with a supervillain instead of the hero? Overall, this makes for a very interesting analysis given that the movie has caused an unexpected societal impact
